BTEX

BTEX is the collective name for a group of volatile organic compounds that can contaminate natural waters through a variety of sources. BTEX are known to have a detrimental effect on humans and as a result, online BTEX monitors can sometimes be found on drinking water treatment works. Industrial manufacturers may be required to measure BTEX if they discharge their wastewater to watercourses or to municipal wastewater treatment plants.

BTEX online measurement is achieved via a UV-fluorescence method. Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene will all fluoresce to varying degrees in the presence of UV light making online BTEX monitoring possible. UV-Fluorescence is the most sensitive method available for online measurement of hydrocarbons making it the best solution for intake protection and pollution monitoring.

Ensuring compliance and protecting cooling water with UV fluorescence.

Oil in water monitoring prevents contamination of cooling towers, heat exchangers and steam condensate.

Many industries require cooling water to transfer heat from the process out of the system. The cooling water must be then be cooled down and discharged before being replaced with fresh water.

Solvent free extraction for oil in water analysis

Simplify your oil in water testing with the Turner Design no solvent extraction method.

Solvent extraction when carrying out oil in water analysis is no longer necessary.  The simple extraction method utilised by Turner Design portable instruments eliminates the requirement to use of hexane, pentane, carbon tetrachloride or any other solvent.

Intake protection – BTEX in water treatment works

Protect your drinking water treatment process with a UV fluoresence oil in water monitor.

As described in the “Contamination Warning Systems” chapter of Security and Emergency Planning for Water and Waste Water Utilities, the American Water Works Association has recognized the TD-4100 series monitors as a method for detection BTEX and dissolved fuels in drinking water intake.
