Silver is a relatively common precious metal which is mostly insoluble in water. At high concentrations it can be an issue for fungi and bacteria and as such is normally only measured on the effluent to an industrial application where its discharge to the environment may cause harm.

It is typically measured online via an ion selective electrode approach.
