The ID-200 Series Interface Detectors are used for interface measurement and control in all types of liquid/liquid and vapor/liquid separation processes including emulsions and foam.

The ID-200 series

The ID-200 Series Interface Detectors are used for interface measurement and control in all types of liquid/liquid and vapor/liquid separation processes including emulsions and foam. A wide range of models, process connections, and output options are available for the control of a variety of process installations such as Tanks, Decanters, Dehydrators, Desalters, Coalescers, etc. The ID-200 Series advanced control capabilities can be used to automate upset responses, antifoam and demulsifier chemical feed systems, and eliminate cross-contamination of separating phases.

The Waste and Cost of Slop Oil

With Crude oil currently being under $100/bbl, poor oil and water interface/separation control, refineries accidentally dump crude oil and/or refined product to the Waste Water Treatment System (WWTS) on a regular basis. The Oil is not actually lost but is recovered in the WWTS/API Separator. However, it is no longer virgin Crude Oil or Refined Product – the lights have evaporated, the product has been sheared and emulsified by pumps & contaminated with solids. In effect, it has been reduced to recovered SLOP OIL.

A typical refinery today will accidentally dump 0.5% to 1.0% of its total throughput to the WWTS because of poor interface/separation control. For a 100,000bpd refinery, this equals 500 to 1,000bpd of recovered SLOP OIL.

Reduction in slop oil

82%

*Example from a US Refinery

By installing Agar ID-200 Interface Detectors, a US refinery was able to reduce its total HC being dumped to the WWTS by 82% with better interface/separation control (see attached Hydrocarbon Processing article). An 82% reduction in the amount of SLOP OIL being generated is equal to £1,990,424/year in savings/additional profit. Not just for the first single year, but continuing year after year.

Founded in 1980, plus used by all major oil companies around the world, Agar Corporation is a main pioneer of non-nuclear, versatile, multi-phase flow meters used to optimize oil well testing and production. Agar provides innovative solutions for applications such as: heavy oil well testing, waste water treatment, automatic tank dewatering, desalters and gas liquid foam control.

Knowledgeable, experienced staff

Our team of dedicated field support group technicians are vastly experienced in applications and installations.  We therefore appreciate and understand how analysers work, why they were installed and what data they typically ought to produce.
